It's Official!! "Celebrate Old North Salisbury" Saturday Nov 8th City Park!!!

"Celebrate Old North Salisbury"

The Old North Salisbury Association is hosting a neighborhood social gathering!!!

When: Saturday November 8th

Time: 2:00 PM ~ 6:00 PM

Where: City Park Outdoor Pavilions

What: A celebration of the Salisbury's North Main area friends and neighbors!

Live Music On The Lawn: The Tripp Edwards Trio / No. 9 Coal / Alan Wyrick & Friends

Please Bring: A Covered Dish to Pass ~ Lawn Chairs ~ Picnic Blankets

ONSA will supply non-alcoholic beverages, cups, plates, and utensils.

We will be announcing some of the 2008 activities of the Association & some of our ongoing plans. There will be entertainment featuring Salisbury's own No. 9 Coal's own brand of bluegrass/newgrass, The Tripp Edwards Trio, and Alan Wyrick & Friends ~ all performing live original music and old familiars! Enjoy an afternoon in the park with music and friends!

If you live between Lafayette Street and 17th Street and between Jackson Street and the Southern Railway tracks to the east - you are in the Old North Salisbury neighborhood. Please come and participate in this wonderful opportunity to meet others in this community. We share a common bond here & we're looking forward to sharing it with YOU!!!

Welcome to NOMA!

The North Main Neighborhood, in the City of Salisbury North Carolina, is bounded by Lafayette Street at our most southern boundary, and 17th Street (the Town of Spencer town line) to the north; and between N. Jackson Street at our western boundary and the Southern Railway tracks to the east.

In the center of the NOMA, lies the North Main Historic District with homes that were constructed circa 1890 - 1938 along the trolley line that ran from Fulton Heights to the Spencer Shops.

Preserving & Nurturing North Main Street Area's Most Beautiful Homes

One of the great benefits of local historic district designation in Salisbury is that the City provides grants to residential property owners to assist with the costs of exterior maintenance and repair. These grants are loans that do not have to be repaid and they’re typically used for projects such as painting, roofing and repair of original wood features. The maximum grant award is $2,500 and they’re usually expected to cover 50% or less of the overall project cost. Grants are awarded in the spring and fall as funding allows and they are prioritized to encourage applicants with low in comes. WHAT DOES SALISBURY RECYCLE?

GLASS - Glass containers of all colors except for GREEN. Remove the lids and rinse out before placing them in the bin. Paper labels do not need to be removed.

NEWSPAPER - Wet or dry newspaper and all inserts. Stack beside or on top of your bin.

GLOSSY MAGAZINES ● TELEPHONE DIRECTORIES

JUNK MAIL & MIXED PAPER

CARDBOARD - Cardboard boxes 2' X 3' or smaller and cereal/food boxes. Must be flattened.

PLASTIC - Soft drink bottles and milk jugs as well as other plastic containers with 1 or 2 recycling symbols on the bottom. Remove the lids and step on your plastic to save space. Labels do not need to be removed.

CANS - All aluminum and steel cans from household. Labels do not need to be removed.
