Keep North Main Beautiful! Fall Spruce Up is Coming!

Help keep NOMA beautiful!

Fall Spruce-Up is coming the week of October 20-24th. It's a perfect opportunity to clean up the neighborhood!

The City will supply us with gloves and garbage bags if anyone would like to form a specific clean-up group for a targeted area.

Place your 'Spruce-Up' garbage at the curb on the normal trash pick up day. No construction material is permitted but if you have such to dispose of, please call (704) 638-5260 and they can help you make arrangements for pickup!

Welcome to NOMA!

The North Main Neighborhood, in the City of Salisbury North Carolina, is bounded by Lafayette Street at our most southern boundary, and 17th Street (the Town of Spencer town line) to the north; and between N. Jackson Street at our western boundary and the Southern Railway tracks to the east.

In the center of the NOMA, lies the North Main Historic District with homes that were constructed circa 1890 - 1938 along the trolley line that ran from Fulton Heights to the Spencer Shops.

Preserving & Nurturing North Main Street Area's Most Beautiful Homes

One of the great benefits of local historic district designation in Salisbury is that the City provides grants to residential property owners to assist with the costs of exterior maintenance and repair. These grants are loans that do not have to be repaid and they’re typically used for projects such as painting, roofing and repair of original wood features. The maximum grant award is $2,500 and they’re usually expected to cover 50% or less of the overall project cost. Grants are awarded in the spring and fall as funding allows and they are prioritized to encourage applicants with low in comes. WHAT DOES SALISBURY RECYCLE?

GLASS - Glass containers of all colors except for GREEN. Remove the lids and rinse out before placing them in the bin. Paper labels do not need to be removed.

NEWSPAPER - Wet or dry newspaper and all inserts. Stack beside or on top of your bin.

GLOSSY MAGAZINES ● TELEPHONE DIRECTORIES

JUNK MAIL & MIXED PAPER

CARDBOARD - Cardboard boxes 2' X 3' or smaller and cereal/food boxes. Must be flattened.

PLASTIC - Soft drink bottles and milk jugs as well as other plastic containers with 1 or 2 recycling symbols on the bottom. Remove the lids and step on your plastic to save space. Labels do not need to be removed.

CANS - All aluminum and steel cans from household. Labels do not need to be removed.
